Structural Drying in Vacaville, CA

A surface can feel dry while the bottom plate of a wall, the subfloor or the slab under it is still wet. Structural drying is the process of getting the building materials themselves back to their normal moisture level, measured with meters, before anything is closed up or rebuilt.

How the dry-out is set up

Class 1 through 4

Class 3 is water that came from above and soaked walls, ceilings and insulation. Class 4 covers dense materials that hold water tightly. The class sets how many air movers and how much dehumidification a room needs.

Readings decide when it is done

The drying team records the temperature and humidity inside and outside the drying area and the moisture in the materials every day. The goal is for wet materials to read within 2 to 4 points of a dry reference material in an unaffected part of the same building. Equipment comes out when the log says so, not on a set date. That log becomes part of the insurance file.
